Twenty-Five

25 more working days til we hit the road for. . .

It'll be our first in-real-life show.
There are extra lists being made and extra deep breaths being taken along with the usual Cart shenanigans.
Twenty-five teeny tiny little days!
!

Anthropomorphic Fruit

Now there are pears too.

I just want to eat their juicy little faces!
Does that make me a bad person?

Weather Report

It's looking kinda cloudy here.
Sad clouds, happy clouds, wistfully drifting clouds. . .
I think this little lavender-eyed stormcloud is my favorite this time around.
You can find them here.
. . . . .
And speaking of clouds,
have you all seen Dylan's Weather Report (circa 1979)?

So cute!

Snapshots from the Studio

Sometimes my work table looks like it belongs in the garage--
more hardware store than art supplies.
Especially when it's time to make a little robot.
This one is heading off to California today.
The drying rack (which is really just a flipped-over box fan on a milk crate) is covered in clouds and pears that want to be finished today. There are also mushrooms, apples, and strawberries in the works but those will have to wait their turn.
The day after tomorrow we're heading off to Walla Walla Washington (that name still makes me giggle) to  get our baby girl all moved into her dorm room. There wil be too many hugs and kisses, and tears. Yes, I'm one of those moms.

Making Halloweeny Treat Boxes

First I take a little paper mache box (you can usually find them at any ole craft store). . .
. . .and paint it with craft paints. Since I'm in Halloween mode, I stuck with the traditional white/black/orange combo.
Then I stain it-- Slop on a watery layer of dark brown paint, then quickly wipe it off with a paper towel. It adds texture and visual interest.
Then I make the little fabric pinwheel thingies.
1) Tear a fabric strip that's 1/2 inch X 9 inches (or so) and do a simple running stitch along one edge with embroidery floss, leaving a thread tail at both ends. 2) Scrunch the fabric strip. 3) Tie in the back. 4) Done. Now I hot glue it to my box top.
Then I pick the perfect button and glue that in the middle.
Then I make more. And more. And more.
Now they're all ready to be filled with something.
What do you want in yours?

Busy Busy, Pretty Pretty

School starting back up, getting the eldest off to college, show to prepare for, and regular ole day-to-day work too. . . So no words today.

But here are some pictures my dad just took.

The Oregon Coast is pretty.

Making a List and Checking it Twice

It has been busy on the Cart.
Getting ready to ship off a big ole order today and start on another.
. . .
"A schedule defends from chaos and whim. It is a net for catching days. It is a scaffolding on which a worker can stand and labor with both hands at sections of time."

On the Table

Today's table is super busy, full of unfinished-ness.
And here's a bit of done-ness from last week's table.
She's already living in Spain now.
What's Spanish for watermelon?

LP's

Had the ocassion to dust off our little collection of  kid albums.
Got some oldies in there. Older than me.
This one was my absolute favorite when I was little.
I must've listened to it a gazillion times.
AND it came with a comic book!
I think kids' attention spans where a bit longer way back then.

Second Chances

The sun may be shining brightly, but it's raining on The Cart-
We made another batch of raindrops (and some clouds too while we were at it). The last batch flew out the door really quick-like and some sweetie-pies missed out. So here ya go. I'm a big fan of second chances.(We won't be making any more any time soon on account of we've got a lot of Halloweeny goods to get to.) I think this one's my favorite this time around--
You can find them here.
. . . . .
In other news. . .we still have company and are enjoying all of this Summer's fruity glory. We have plenty of blueberries to share.
Want some?

On the Table (Fabric Mosaic)

I took a day off this weekend and had some me time on yet another table. The dining room table is supposedly off-limits, but sometimes I get carried away.  I still have a few blank spaces on our new walls and wanted to add some color to one of them so I started snipping up bits of scrap fabric, busted out the Mod Podge, and went to town on a wooden box frame painted white.
Snip, snip, snip. Glue, glue, glue. Super fun!

Like the very limited amount of quilting I've done, I just made it up as I went along. I like how it turned out, kind of a quilty mosaic. Now I just have to decide where to hang it.
