Today's Table and Folk Magazine

This morning's table greeted me with an eclectic array of media.
I've never met a medium I didn't like.

These little painting/drawings in the works have been keeping me up late the past couple of nights, insisting on being brought into existence. Who am I to deny these odd moon-faced girls with their strange dollies? It would be lovely however if inspiration could strike a bit earlier in the day. Bedtime at 1:AM and Awaketime at 6:AM don't happily co-exist for long. Luckily, I have a job that encourages napping.

Been playing with clay too. Just putting the finishing touches on a Chihuahua head that is turning out larger than anticipated. Come to think of it, it's about the size of an actual Chihuahua's head. Well, maybe a Chihuahua puppy's head. Also, I'm trying to decide if that bearded fellow wants hair. I already know he wants a top hat, but he'll just have to wait his turn like the rest.

Also, this happened. . .

Hey look, we're in this magazine! Folk Magazine did a feature on us in their latest Fall issue. Lots of our arty cyber-friends are in there too! You can get a sneak peek of more of this issue here.

Hope you're all having a creative day, in some way or another.

  8. I remember that Kitty and his Gourdmobile! Do you do the heads in solid paper clay, or do you have something in the middle so they are not so heavy??

    1. I always use an armature when sculpting in paperclay. For heads I usually use styrofoam :)

  9. Awesome that you are highlighted in Folk Magazine! Love what you are creating too. The wood painted folk art designs in your photos here look exciting...can't wait to see them finished. And the guy with the beard looks just fine...he reminds me of a Circus Strong Man, he doesn't need hair on his head.
    Cheers!
