Counting Crows

One crow for sorrow.
Two crows for mirth.
Three crows, a wedding.
Four crows, a birth.
Five crows for silver.
Six crows for gold.
Seven crows, a secret
never to be told.

There's always one that's just gotta stand out.

  1. Fabulous crows! Is the poem taken from a Counting Crows song? Tricky! I haven't heard that song in years. I'll have to dig that cd out.

  2. One for sorrow, two for mirth,
    Three for a wedding, four for a birth,
    Five for silver, six for gold,
    Seven for a secret not to be told.
    Eight for heaven, nine for hell,
    And ten for the devil's own sel'.

    Or more commonly:

    One for sorrow, two for joy;
    Three for a girl, four for a boy;
    Five for silver, six for gold;
    Seven for a secret, never to be told;
    Eight for a wish, nine for a kiss;
    Ten for a bird that's best to miss.

    Well done, they are great.
