I finished those odd space/robot helmets I've been making for Dylan's puppets!
I think they turned out pretty cool considering I just used what we had laying around the house. (Of course, our house has plenty of arty stuff laying around.) Plus, I discovered a cool metallic paint that did a great job! It's Martha Stewart's Multi-Surface Acrylic Craft Paint. It stuck to all my surfaces (metal, paper mache, paperclay, plastic, and glass) like a champ. I base coated everything with flat black spray paint, so I suspect that helped. I was able to use regular ole acrylic paint for all the details too. Don't you just love it when things work out? I'm not allowed to show you what they look like on the actual puppets though on account of Dylan wants to keep his video stuff hush hush until it's all done. I can't wait to see what he's up to!
They soooo remind me of "Flash Gordon" of the 1950's...can't wait to see them in action!
ReplyDeleteFAB! I cannot wait to see how these pieces are used ~ I have become a huge fan of Paper Hand Lincoln and am spreading it's name like Buttah! (I listen to your songs whilst creating...)
ReplyDeleteLOVE that you use what you have on-hand...me too. Hardly shop anymore. One day, my house will be a blank canvas for me to start all over again with :)
Blessed be ~
Lori
they are just the coolest things!
ReplyDeleteWell done, they turned out better than I imagined they would, I look forward to seeing Dylan's video.
ReplyDeleteThey are oh so nifty fifties! I can just feel that alien lurking just over the rock pile!
ReplyDeleteI am also like a raccoon in my recycle bucket!
They are absolutely amazing....can't wait to see the video:)
ReplyDeleteThey are awesome! Do you ever have problems with paint flaking when parts are bent, or is it all pretty rigid? Then...how do you het it rigid? Lol.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI really don't have that problem, Kim. Maybe it's because I use acrylics?
These are so awesome! cant wait to see the video!
ReplyDeleteWhat great helmets! They'll be a fantastic touch to the puppets. I can't wait to see the video.
