Outsides

All done!
Here,  herehere,  and here.

This one's my favorite-
Gotta love an egg in a bow tie.

And speaking of that clumsy egg fellow. . .  this is my sweet Dylan's take on Humpty Dumpty written in the style of Edgar Allan Poe--

"Once upon a wall of stone
Sat Humpty Dumpy all alone
Shrouded in a web of gloom
His fate as near as tomorrow's tomb

For earth called him
As he teetered and fell
And the ground took him
And mangled his shell

All the angels in heaven
And demons below
Were soaked in yoke
As they fought for his soul

Now my own days grow shorter
The final hour is soon
And as Humpty before me
I must bid you adieu"

Here's his very silly video.

Underneath

I'll give you a hint:
I'm trying to keep them from sitting on walls.
Paper mache and first layer of paperclay done. Now to do some touch-up clay, drying, sanding, then I can start with the painty paint. That's my favorite part!

Backs

While the weather forecast is promising snow, it's Springtime on the table today. Just finished a new little angel adorned with some wishful-thinking flowers. You can see more of her here.
I'm also still happily playing with paper bits and snips. Here are the backs of the latest goings-on.
I'm not ready to show the fronts yet. Another day.
We're still working out what we'll be doing with all these paper dollies, but in the meantime I'm just enjoying the change of medium. (And crossing my fingers for enough snow to build a tiny snowman.)

Thirty-eight

The beginnings of more papery goodness are cluttering up the worktable today. They're demanding my attention, but they'll just have to wait on account of we're heading to the beach for some birthday shenanigans.

And take a look at my b-day present from good ole Mother Nature-- the Amaryllis I got for Christmas greeted me in all it's gloriousness this morning. This flower is as big as a my face!
Happy Birthday to me!

Playing with Paper

Finished a couple more paper dolls to add to the growing collection.
Here's Lula-
And here's Alice with some little friends-
We're still working out some bugs on the computer end of things, but hope we'll be able to offer them for sale soonish. In the meantime, I'll just continue to amuse myself.
Wheee!

Itty Bitty Little Red

Dylan has been sewing and stuffing handfuls of teeny tiny Little Red Riding Hoods out of fabric we had printed up special.

The newest member of our Little Red club has been making all sorts of new friends.
And having grand adventures!
The little deer have really taken to her too.
(She must have deer treats in her basket.)
You can get your own here.

And while you're looking, you might as well check out these gorgeous bits of Red Riding Hood goodness from some super cool art chicks-

Hope you're all having a day
free from grandma-eating wolves.

Today's Table(s)

I've got 2 tables going on in the studio today.
One for stuffed stuff. . .
. . .and one for tiny objects of a flatter nature.
I just finished painting these dragonfly wings-
So many tiny lines!
(OK, I admit it, I've been making them fly around the house.)

I'm going back a forth between tables (and dimensions), while taking periodic breaks to clean my messy house. We have company coming tomorrow. (Some weeks it takes the fact that company's coming to get me motivated to do the un-fun chores.) We're all going to see the boy kid's jazz concert and eat spaghetti. wheee! The list in my head goes something like this-- Base paint the elephant, then vacuum. Cut out dragonfly arms, then clean the bathroom. Base paint an owl, then start to think about dinner. . . and so on. It really is a lovely way to spend a cloudy day.

Pink Elephants!

My very first paper doll (at least the first one I've made as a grown-up) is done! I'm having way too much fun playing with all the little bits of pretty paper. I thought I was making a heart-headed creature when I started drawing, but an elephant-head insisted upon coming into existence.

Here's Ellie-
And here's Ellie doing a silly little dance-

Now I'm off to make her some friends.
Hope you're having a silly day.

Today's Table

My worktable is looking uncharacteristically 2-dimensional today.
I've been playing with paper, trying my hand at making a paper doll. I like it! It's kinda like doing a puzzle.
Hopefully, I'll get to show you the fruits of my labor (in anthropomorphic elephant form) tomorrow.

I spy (with my little eye) something. . .

Blue
Try as I might, I couldn't find enough purple things to fill up a photo. So thus concludes my rainbowy silliness.

2.02.2011

I spy (with my little eye) something. . .

Green
It's working! I can feel my grayness slipping away.
Wanna play?

I spy (with my little eye) something. . .

Yellow
I'm just gonna work my way through the rainbow, chasing away a case of gray that is trying to settle on me.
Wanna play?
Show us a picture of something yellow.
