This Week's Favorite

It was extra easy to pick a favorite piece this week
on account of I only finished three. Two were birds that were probably affected by my excursion into Rainbowland last week, turning them awfully colorful. The third was this little quilted painting-
I admit it, I'm madly in love with it! What's not to love? Red, white, and green (my favorite color combination), and lots and lots of my favorite white buttons! Plus, it's covered in those pretty polka-dotted mushrooms that I like so much. I even found the perfect pair of antique metal buttons for the squirrel's wheels.Gosh, I hope I don't sound too annoyingly braggy.
I just delight in my work.
It's makes me happier than if I didn't.
We racked our brains trying to name this one,
and finally came up with Amanita's Garden. Can you guess why?
. . .
OK, OK, I'll tell you.
Amanita Muscaria is scientific the name of this mushroom:
Look familiar?
. . .
I hope this day finds you all
delighting in your endeavors.

A Moon and Some Bunnies

With all the looking back through past work, the new stuff has gotten jealous. So here are a few of our latest creations-
I love how this moon man turned out. He's funny, too. You should see his impression of Christopher Walken. "More cowbell!"
Easter is just around the corner, so I have an extra incentive to make bunnies (yay!).
Here's an itty bitty babe wearing an itty bitty wooden mask. Goofy little thing thinks this mask somehow makes her scary and she keeps jumping out at unsuspecting passersby. She's hoping for blood-curdling screams, but only gets adorable Awwww's.
A trio of rabbits.
I love how Dylan incorporated the stands right into the bodies. Wouldn't these make great chess pieces? They think so anyway, and keep practicing by looking sophisticated and playing hopscotch on the kids' checker board.
A traditional rag doll, this bunny-loving girly girl, takes after my own heart.
Can't . . . talk . . . overwhelmed . . . by . . . cuteness . . .

Violet

I had as hard a time finding violet as I did finding indigo. Guess I just don't use those colors very much.
Here's a violet wizard, on an evening flight. . .

A violet vest, the Mad Hatter's delight . . .

Violet blooms make gardens bright. . .

. . .
That's all folks.
Roy G. Biv has left the building.

Indigo

I had a heck of a time finding any use of indigo in my past works.
Here's a bit of an indigo sky. . .

Indigo horns on a silly goat. . .

Skeletons dance on an indigo cat. . .

B is for Blue

Devil with a blue dress, blue dress, blue dress. . .
Alice in Wonderland, curious curious. . .
Fine feathered friend, a blue masquerade. . . Blue fairy wishes never will fade. . . And above it all shines a moon of blue, Constantly changing, but always true.

Happy Blue!

Green

The G in Roy G. Biv stands for Green.
This is my favorite color,
so it was hard to choose just 5 images.
. . . Nutritious green.

Bathing queen.

Fresh as Spring.

Never mean.
I like green!
Now to find some more green buttons. . .

Awardy Awards

Thank you to Laurie and Sue
and финтифлюшкаfor the lovely awards!
I'm supposed to write some number of things about something or other, then pass them along, but I don't really remember what I'm supposed to write, and as for that last one I have NO idea on account of I speak lousy Ukrainian.
So I'm just gonna write 3 things I'm grateful for and then pass them along to 3 people.
(Let's just take it as a given that I'm grateful for the people I love. )
That said,
1. Extra blankets on cold evenings.
2. Free podcasts.
3. That my dog doesn't shed as much as he looks like he does. Now I pick -
The Crafty Crow for the Kreative Blogger award,
Nutmeg for the Sisterhood one,
and Rima for that last sort-of-mysterious one.
Pass them on as you all see fit.

Yellow

And now for the Y in Roy G. Biv
Yellow face.
Yellow base.
Yellow flare.
Yellow hair.

It's been fun looking through all my past works, watching for colors to jump out at me. I'm looking forward to Green and Blue, but Indigo and Violet may present some difficulty.

Orange

No matter how long the winter,
spring is sure to follow.
~Proverb
Happy Spring, all!
~~*~~
I went searching for orange amongst my past creations to continue my bloggy rainbow. (Rainbows are Spring-ish, right?)

Roy G. Biv

Here's a little splash of red for Michelle over at the Green Kitchen.
I love the idea of blogging a rainbow!

Monday Monday!

I love Mondays!
No, really.
My week is set up so that I have a big deadline to meet every Sunday. So when most people are saying TGIF, I'm up to my elbows in things that need to be done. I'm almost always done by Saturday, so Sundays are good too, but Mondays mean a whole week of new possibilities lay before me. That's the day I get to decide what I will be making in the days (daze) ahead.
Plus, I don't work hard on Mondays. I dream and plan and sketch. And next Sunday's deadline couldn't be farther away.
And finally, in conclusion, Mondays are the best days because I get to stand back, take a breath, and enjoy the art that I've made the week before.
Here are the fruits (no pun intended) of last week's labor, and what I'm delighting in today-

What's your favorite day of the week?

Bird in the Hand

The Prim & Whimsy Girls are having a Spring challenge this week, so be sure to check out what the girls have made.

Sneaky Peeky

Remember this dreamy house-headed fellow from a few weeks back?
Well, this week I've been having so much fun making his brother that I couldn't wait til Sunday to share.
.
I love seeing people's works-in-progress, so I thought I'd share mine too. This variation on my simple house is done all in paper mache. On Day 1, I built the armature and did the first layer of paper mache. The next 2 or 3 layers of gluey paper, and making those cute little leaves, took up Day 2.
.
Here is Treehouse in it's naked state, on the beginning of Day 3.

.

On Day 3, I added the paperclay features, and started the base painting while that dried.
.
Day 4, after the paperclay dried thoroughly, I finished the base painting. Often times at this point I get a case of insecurity, afraid I'll screw up something I really like so far by finishing it badly.
But that fraidy-cat voice in my head is lame,
and I try not to listen to it.
Tah-Dah!

Finshed!

.

Don't let the fraidy cat

get the better of you.
