Dancy Pants

.
Let your life
lightly dance
on the edges of Time,
like dew
on the tip
of a leaf.

Anybody else sick of political ads?

Left, Right, Blue, Red, Stripes, Plaid, or Polka-Dots. . . Make sure you get counted. . I don't talk politics here. I don't really care which way you sway, Donkey or Elephant. There are plenty of brilliant and good people on either side of that imaginary political fence. However, I am grateful to live in a country where our voices are allowed to be heard. I know that so many brave people before us sacrificed so much to give us this voice. So be sure to register and vote.
Maybe you'll even get one of those
cute little "I voted!" stickers.

Show & Tell

Why do I have the poppy, hairsprayed, keyboardy stylings of Oingo Boingo in my head?

Here's my latest Cheater Quilt. I call them this because I love quilts, especially the old Southern picture quilts, with all the intricate applique' work. But I've no patience for such things, plus I stick my fingers too too too much when allowed to handle sharp needles. So Dylan does the quilting and I stick with my blunt paintbrushes.

I did a little Cheater Quilt tutorial awhile back, if'n you wanna try for yourself. (Using your OWN designs, of course.)

Here are a few more I've done over the past year:

I've really enjoyed making these. And maybe someday I'll make my own version of a story quilt. I'd better get busy collecting memories worthy of commemorating. What's your story, and how do you tell it?

Devils and Angels (But Mostly Devils)

Oh, he's a most dapper fellow indeed!
He's a right proper portrait of cordiality as he scoops up wayward souls.

Poem for Punkinhead

P is for a precarious perch
for Punkinhead so dear.
Pray she stays steady atop her mount
Or it's pumpkin pie, I fear.

New Moon

The New Moon

What have you got in your knapsack fair,

White moon, bright moon, pearling the air,

Spinning your bobbins and fabrics free,

Fleet moon, sweet moon, in to the sea?
Turquoise and beryl and rings of gold,
Clear moon, dear moon, ne’er to be sold?
Roses and lilies, romance and love,
Still moon, chill moon, swinging above?
Slender your feet as a white birds throat,
High moon, shy moon, drifting your boat
Into the murk of the world awhile,
Slim moon, dim moon, adding a smile.

Sweet Dreams

Skeletons are always in season.

I had a dream last night that we had unexpected company stop by and I was all embarrassed cuz it's only September and I was already decorated for Christmas. There were untimely Santas every which where. How embarrassing!

Guess it's a side-effect of always making stuff for the next season. I was just trying to figure out when to start making Christmas stuff. I'll probably keep with Halloween til the first week of October, but there will most likely be some Halloween/Christmas overlap come the middle of this month. Gosh, I hope the punkinheads play nicely with the snowmen. Last year I caught one of the Jack-O-Lanterns using his candle to try to melt a sweet little snowgirl. Halloween toys are much naughtier than Christmas toys.
